I love East Haddam. After serving over 20 years ago on our local Board of Education, I am running again to serve our community. Our town is facing multiple challenges, and my unique skill set, experiences and no- nonsense approach to problem solving will help make a positive impact, once again.

The heart of any thriving community is its people. Over the past few weeks, I have had the privilege of meeting with residents from every corner —sharing coffee, attending local events, and listening to concerns both large and small. I have heard from parents concerned about the future of our schools and our declining enrollment, from seniors who support our kids—but cannot afford constant tax increases and from small business owners who understand that they make up a smaller portion of our grand list. They want elected officials dedicated to making their town a better place, leaving bombastic politics behind. I have a proven bipartisan track record in town whether that is supporting open space or building the grade 4-8 Middle School.

Since serving as a three-term State Representative in 2018, I have continued to immerse myself in the state budget and policy. An area of focus has been on the funding sources for our schools and the policy debated at the Capitol, while serving as a senior advisor and budget analyst for legislative Leader Candelora and House Republicans caucus. My knowledge of state statutes, budgeting and proposed policy will be beneficial for local parents, our children and educators alike.

Since my nomination to serve locally again, I have spent countless hours reviewing Board of Education meeting videos, minutes and the current budget. I am eager to get back to the table, roll up my sleeves and give back to the community I care about.

For the past decade, my wife, our three sons, and I have been proud to call East Haddam our home. As an engaged parent, I am deeply invested in our community, with all three of my sons currently thriving in the East Haddam Public School system. My passion for education and community service drives my candidacy for the Board of Education, where I aim to advocate for our students, families, and town.

With over 20 years as a certified educator, I bring a wealth of experience and a multifaceted perspective to the table. My career has spanned roles as a classroom teacher, coordinator, mentor, nature center director, and advisor, each position strengthening my commitment to fostering innovative and inclusive learning environments. As a certified coach, I have guided young athletes in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and softball, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. In recent years, I have collaborated with schools to design forward-thinking curricula and budgets, with a focus on advancing science and technology education. Currently, I serve as a Technology Integration Instructor and Gifted and Talented teacher, roles that have honed my expertise in leveraging cutting-edge tools and tailored instruction to meet diverse student needs.

My extensive background in education, curriculum development, leadership, and budgetary oversight equips me to be a strong asset to the Board of Education. I am committed to preserving the unique character of our schools while ensuring a robust, future-ready curriculum that prepares our students for success. Simultaneously, I prioritize fiscal responsibility to maintain the trust of our community and ensure sustainable investments in our schools. I look forward to representing the voices of our students, families, and residents, working collaboratively to uphold East Haddam’s tradition of educational excellence while driving innovation and equity.
